PUSTAKOPHAR 2025
'Pustakophar' is an initiative by Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and fostering a sense of community among students. The term 'Pustakophar' means to 'gift books' in Hindi. This program encourages senior students to donate their used textbooks and study materials to their juniors at the beginning of each academic year. By reusing textbooks, the initiative not only saves trees cutting but also reduces the demand for new paper and also alleviates the financial burden on families who might struggle to afford new books. Moreover, it cultivates a culture of sharing and responsibility among students.
The concept of 'Pustakophar' has been implemented across various Kendriya Vidyalayas with notable success. For instance, Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF JHAPHAN organized the 'Pustakophar' program on April 11, 2025, where students actively participated in donating books to their juniors.
